8 WORST FOODS FOR YOUR TEETH

Have you heard of that saying?

Eat healthy, feel healthy!

Eat crappy, feel crappy!

Same rule goes for your teeth. Because they are the first stage your food passes from. If food is healthy, your teeth will stay healthy; if food is crappy, well, I don’t think I really need to complete the sentence. You guys are smart enough.

So today we will discuss 8 foods that are crap for your teeth.

  1. Candies

Ah! This reminds me of my mother. You must have heard mothers scolding their children for eating candies. And, mothers are always right.

Candies are the enemies for your teeth. They taste sweet, but are actually the sweet killers! These candies contain not only harmful sugar but also different kinds of acids. Their chewy nature makes it facilitating for them to stick and linger around in your mouth for longer period, increasing the reaction period.

  1. Carbonated Drinks

Here again it reminds me, your parents have hidden those bottles of soft drinks away from you in your childhood. Well they have done everything they could to save your overall body health including your dental health.

A research has proven that carbonated drinks do as much harm to your teeth as cocaine and methamphetamine does. If you may not know, these also contain acids that not only dried your mouth but also decay your sparkling white teeth.

  1. Citrus

Eat your vitamins daily! That is a common saying. Citrus fruits are known as a good source of many vitamins and minerals. But, excess of everything is always bad. So remember not to overdo the intake of citrus fruits like lemon, grapefruit, oranges, etc. because citric acid is harsh on teeth and corrodes enamel.

  1. Dried fruits

Recently, dried fruits are “the talk” as a healthy snack, which is undoubtedly true. But, their sticky nature allows them to stick in the crevices of teeth for longer. This makes a perfect cavity home for those bacteria.

  1. Bread or processed carbohydrates

What? Is bread unhealthy for my teeth? Yes! It may sound shocking  but think thrice before grabbing those refined or processed breads from your supermarket. These breads are a great source of refined carbs that is basically sugar and we all know sugar is everything but healthy. So, rather go for alternatives like whole wheat bread.

  1. Pickles

Pickles are great! Let me complete… for corroding enamel of your teeth. It contains vinegar that contains enough acid to tear and wear your teeth enamel. Next time you eat pickle, rinse your mouth immediately afterwards.

  1. Ice

Joking right? That’s basically just water!

No honey! I am serious here.

We love ice in summers. For some people it is tempting to chew ice and beat off the heat. But you better leave it alone even after putting into your cup filled with drink. Ice is hard and can easily chip your teeth, make them weak and corrode the enamel.

  1. Alcohol

Last but not the least! Adult’s favorite drink, a great partner in happiness and crises; is a “not so hidden” enemy of our health. As far as we know, it is bad for every organ including our teeth. Alcohol stains teeth and also makes our mouth dry that means less saliva. Dry mouth allows the food to stick around and the end result is cavities.
