SWEAT AROUND YOUR VAGINA

SWEAT AROUND YOUR VAGINA

Who doesn’t dread a sweaty body y’all? That swampy feeling in the summer especially around bust and pits is utterly annoying. Moreover, women have to combat vaginal sweating.

Some ladies get worried about their vagina sweating. But is vaginal sweating normal or is it something to worry about?

Here’s the entire guide about vaginal sweating and ways to combat it.

The first and vital point you should keep in mind is that

VAGINA CAN’T SWEAT!

YES! Don’t doubt my words. I’ll explain you why.

Vagina is an internal part inside your reproductive system. So, it can’t sweat as it doesn’t perspire. Basically, what feels like sweating down there is not your vagina but the vulva that is the external part of your reproductive system.

The vulva has high volume of sweat glands and hair follicles just like your armpits. So, like every other part of your body, your crotch area sweats too and there is nothing wrong with that. Also, it is a healthy mechanism of your body to air condition its parts and keeps it cool.

What comes with sweat is vaginal odor women complain about. Your crotch area has some apocrine glands along with eccrine glands that are only found in areas of your body like armpits that produce sweat to cool down the area. When your crotch area gets damp, it starts smelling what we call vaginal odor that is totally harmless.

But, if the odor is weirder than normal, it can be an indication of a bacterial vaginosis or STD. so make sure to keep the odor in check and look for your doctor if it is unnatural in any way.

WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF SWEAT AROUND YOUR VAGINA?

Vaginal sweating is a common occurrence in summers because it is too ot and every part of your body perspires to cool itself.

Exercise causes your body to sweat, and your crotch area is no exception.

Pubic hair being very dense traps the heat in the skin that stimulates apocrine glands to release sweat.

Non-breathable undergarmnets hold in heat and do not absorb the moisture released by the apocrine glands, which causes the sweat to get stuck on the skin.

People who are obese often complain more of sweat around their pubic area due to less space for skin to breathe.

Pads and panty liners are generally a product of non-breathable material that is assumed to cause more sweating by retaining heat in the crotch area.

HOW TO PREVENT VAGINAL SWEATING?

Here are some tips that you can try to wick away the excess dampness.

  • Take a bath every time after you exercise to remove that extra sweat.
  • Try trimming if not shaving or waxing the entire hair growth to minimize the sweating. This way you can also get rid of that unpleasant odour around your vaginal area as it would have more room to breathe in.
  • Choose breathable panty fabrics like cotton made panties. You can also wear loose panties at home to feel more comfortable.
  • Prioritize panty liners and pads that are 100% cotton over synthetic non-breathable ones. They will keep you more at ease and comfortable.
  • Keep your crotch area clean and dry. You can use a gentle cleanser around the area since it is extremely sensitive or you can simply clean it with lukewarm water. Avoid using soaps with fragrance because they tend to irritate your skin.
  • Change your undergarments twice a day in summers to keep it fresh.
